Over 60s Cycling Holidays, Spain
Cycling is an activity that can be enjoyed well into our 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, in fact many of my own family members are still enjoying their cycling well into their retirement years. Cycling is a great way to keep active, socialize and compete! Cycling also has many health benefits too, because the bicycle supports your body, cycling isn’t necessarily a weight-bearing exercise, (depending on your technique), this means it’s good for your joints and helps strengthen your muscles and increase your stamina.
As adults what do we often say to our children and grand-children, ‘You don’t know if you don’t like it until you have tried it’! So why not give it a go in sunny Andalucia, southern Spain?
Our White Villages of Andalucia Self Guided Point-to-Point Tour and single based cycling holidays in Ronda are suitable for pedalling pensioners who are relatively new to cycling or for the more adventurous silver cyclists why not try our road cycling holidays? All routes can be tailored to suit your requirements.
During your silver cycling holiday you will be visiting many of the beautiful white villages in the Grazalema Natural Park that are synonymous with southern Spain.

During your silver cycling holiday you will be visiting many of the beautiful white villages in the Grazalema Natural Park that are synonymous with southern Spain.
At the Andalucian Cycling Experience we are Passionate about Pedalling and equally as passionate about Andalucia, especially Ronda and the Grazalema Natural Park. Our silver cycling holidays combine these passions into a cycling holiday that will be filled with fond and lasting memories. We specialize in fully supported guided tours in our own very beautiful part of Andalucia with the emphasis on easy, gently paced, riding. All you have to do is relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, along with the excellent local cuisine, tapas and wines…..and of course the cycling! There are plenty of opportunities to stop admire the views, soak up the sun and take some photos along the way.
By far the best way to explore rural Andalucia is on two wheels, you really get to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside whilst riding. The rides are tailor made to suit your fitness level, you tell us how far you want to ride and we will provide you with a great days riding.
We ride through rolling farmland along quiet country lanes, through forests of Holm Oak, passing by olive groves, orange and lemon orchards and vineyards, stopping each day for lunch and refreshments at one of our favourite tapas bars or local restaurants. During the week we can also arrange guided tours around a local wine bodega which includes a wine tasting and lunch and we will visit a working olive mill where they still press and produce exquisite local olive oil, we’ll also have a taster too, hmmmm yummy!!
When we’re not riding you can go walking, visit the Cueva Pileta famous for it’s pre-historic paintings and they will be a chance to swim in a fresh water lagoon.
Enjoy a healthy, active holiday that is good for your mind, body and soul, environmentally friendly and above everything else, great fun.
Fly to Malaga Airport. Transfer to Ronda.Â
We start the week with a ride to Setenil de la Bodegas and a visit to the Roman Ampitheatre at Ronda La Vieja. Setenil was once a thriving economic centre on the ‘Travellers route’ between Sevilla and Ronda this picturesque white village is now famous for its cave houses and olive oil. Here we stop for lunch at, in my opinion, one of the best tapa’s bars in this area which is set beneath the overhanging rock face inside a cave.

- 45km
A ride through the enchanting Cork Tree forest to Grazalema, which is famous for its wool and leather products. Today we will explore the stunning Grazalema Natural Park and the beautiful white village of Grazalema, which is surrounded by three sides of mountains. Here you have an opportunity to explore the narrow streets, enjoy the beautiful views back across the route we have taken and sample a few tapa’s and the local hospitality before we ride back to Ronda.
Ride Distance
- 36kmÂ
Day ride along the Via Verde de la Sierra, visiting the Peñon Zaframagon, a Griffon Vulture colony information centre The ‘Via Verde de la Sierra’ meanders from Olvera to Puerto Serrano. Along the route we pass through a variety of landscapes from farm land to a mountain region. Water is a common element of the landscape as the route follows the path of the two rivers of Guadalete & Guadalporcun, therefore the Mediterranean vegetation is lush. Riding along this old railway track you pass over several viaducts, the most impressive being at Coripe, and through 30 tunnels the longest of which is 990metres. A refreshment stop can be made at the Coripe railway station or we can take a picnic.

A rest day gives you the chance to discover the historic old town of Ronda which is famous for it’s Gorge, the Bullring, the Arabic baths, city walls and many museums. Or time for some retail therapy and an opportunity to indulge, and why not after all the riding.
This might be the high light of any Cycling Holiday, but no matter your age, everyone loves to visit Smurftown to see Papa Smurf!
We take the van out to the start of this ride to avoid a long climb on the bike, of course if you are wanting a challenge you can ride this too. The scenery on this route is absolutely breathtaking as with all our rides there be a lunch stop where we can indulge in the local cuisine/tapas before we head back to Ronda.
Ride Distance
- 50km
We finish the week with a ride along the lake to the hill top village of Zahara de la Sierra. Lunch/refreshments at a Bistro Restaurant over looking the lake, after lunch we take time out to discover the delights of this picturesque ‘pueblo blanco’ (white village) and take in the breathtaking views from the hilltop Moorish Castle before riding back to Montecorto where we will drive back to Ronda in the van.

My husband and I had a fantastic holiday in April with Ashley and Claire . I could not say enough good about our experience. Our accommodation in Ronda was a lovely clean stylish apartment. We had fantastic guided cycles tailored to our level of experience . Another family member was also accommodated to come cycling for two days at short notice . We can’t wait for our next trip!

Personally I hope the move to Ronda doesn’t make ACE *too* successful 🙂 The place is a hidden gem for cycling and I’d hate for it to become another Mallorca or Calpe where every cafe is overrun and prices are high. The fact that ACE are still going strong despite the massive impact of Covid on all businesses is a testament to the dedication of Claire and Ashley along with all of the other people who help keep it going. I can’t recommend ACE highly enough and I’ll definitely be back!

Had a great cycling holiday with this company! They were super accommodating to helping create a route that would work for us because we brought our toddler with us. The route was well organized and all accommodations and transfers of our luggage went smoothly. Ashley is personable and has worked hard to create the business- would highly recommend! An experience we will never forget
