Gravel Ride Biking Holiday, Spain

Gravel bike riding has taken off massively and you can now take your new found passion for gravel bike riding on holiday to Andalucia in southern Spain.

It seems to have re-ignited our passion for riding for riding sake. Gravel bike riding gives us the feeling of freedom and adventure, riding without a definitive route plan and not being restricted to tarmac roads, we can now mix it up and discover places unreachable by road alone.

It will take you back to your teenage years where anything goes! Here in the Serrania de Ronda and Grazalema Natural Park we ride on a mix of roads, vehicle width gravel tracks, single track trails, through forests and grass meadows. Every gravel bike ride is an adventure, with each route offering a variety of terrain to refine your gravel bike riding technique and push the limits.

We have spent the last 18 years exploring this part of Spain, and have put together a weeks worth of outstanding gravel bike riding. The terrain is best described as dry and dusty, fast flowing with a fair few rocky sections and plenty of switchbacks thrown in. The trails we ride are empty, nothing is man-made, all as mother nature intended it to be! Most villages are link by vehicle width gravel tracks so we can ride off road pretty much all day.

Andalucian Cycling Experience gravel biking holidays are suitable for intermediate and experienced gravel bike riders. Our unrivalled local knowledge means we can ensure your gravel biking holiday is tailor-made to your requirements.

We always try to tailor rides to suit ability and fitness levels but at the same time want you the rider to experience the best trails you have ever ridden. This usually means a bit of effort in the climb although this is more than rewarded for the awesome descents that follow.

Many of the trails have a remote feel and you are unlikely to see any other riders with things only getting busy whilst the local shepherd and his flock pass through.

Fly to Malaga Airport. Transfer to Ronda.

We ride the travellers route from Ronda to Setenil on mainly on vehicle width gravel tracks before stopping for tapas in my fave tapas bar in this area which is set in a cave. After lunch we pick up the Ruta de Bandeleros, crossing several streams before passing Ronda la Vieja and riding back to Ronda

Today we head deep into the Sierra de Nieves to ride fantastic fast flowing single track trails through a pine forest covered mountain range. Rock gardens, switch backs, berms, drop offs, this is a dream play ground for all levels of gravel bike rider.

We ride to Grazalema via Montejaque climbing up onto a spectacular high mountain meadow walled with limestone escarpment. A pit stop in Grazalema at our Favourite cake shop before riding back to Ronda by some trails with stunning views of the lake at Zahara

A rest day gives you the chance to discover the historic old town of Ronda which is famous for it’s Gorge, the Bullring, the Arabic baths, city walls.

Alternatively, you can pick up a route card and go out for a ride without your guide.

We start this ride with a blast around the Ronda woods before riding to Montejaque and back to Ronda. Big climbs and fast descents are the order of the day. On the way back to Ronda we stop in the valley below the ancient and famous Ronda gorge for a photo opportunity before climbing up into Ronda

Our final ride we head into the Genal Valley some big climbs and amazing descents too. We ride along a 10km section of single track back towards Ronda before we take on the last 2 climbs of the week. The landscape is varied from limestone rock formations to lush vegetation along a river. The views on this ride are simply stunning.

Time to pack your bags before we collect you for your flights home.

The climate in Andalucia, with over 300 days of sunshine, is perfect for warmer weather winter cycling holidays, spring and autumn breaks as well as summer holidays.

My husband and I had a fantastic holiday in April with Ashley and Claire . I could not say enough good about our experience. Our accommodation in Ronda was a lovely clean stylish apartment. We had fantastic guided cycles tailored to our level of experience . Another family member was also accommodated to come cycling for two days at short notice . We can’t wait for our next trip!

Personally I hope the move to Ronda doesn’t make ACE *too* successful 🙂 The place is a hidden gem for cycling and I’d hate for it to become another Mallorca or Calpe where every cafe is overrun and prices are high. The fact that ACE are still going strong despite the massive impact of Covid on all businesses is a testament to the dedication of Claire and Ashley along with all of the other people who help keep it going. I can’t recommend ACE highly enough and I’ll definitely be back!

Had a great cycling holiday with this company! They were super accommodating to helping create a route that would work for us because we brought our toddler with us. The route was well organized and all accommodations and transfers of our luggage went smoothly. Ashley is personable and has worked hard to create the business- would highly recommend! An experience we will never forget
