Andalucia has a well deserved reputation for having some of the world’s best single track trails, technical down hills, free riding and cross-country mountain biking, combine this with the wonderful weather, over 300 days of sunshine, and you have the perfect location for all year round biking. From our mountain biking base in Ronda, the Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de Nieves and Grazalema Natural Park are all on our doorstep offering you a wide and varied selection of routes from epic cross country trails, mile after mile of testing single track, tough climbs, fast flowing down hills as well as some more gentle rides.
The terrain is well suited to going off road for mountain biking. From blasting down hill and excellent free riding to varied and testing terrain, but more importantly, quality single-track that may leave you breathless and at times worn out, but, grinning from ear to ear at the end of the ride!
During the week, Ashley who is a MTB instructor, will show you a few simple techniques that will get you riding more confidently. The coaching that you will receive is built into your daily riding. Those riders who take advantage of this free training, most will leave their Andalucian cycling experience riding drops offs and switchbacks, that at the beginning of the week you would have considered to difficult.

We incorporate skills practices into your standard days mountain biking that develop braking technique, body positioning and balance on the bike. This often means that we will stop at sections of the trail that require a new level of skill for on-the-trail coaching. This informal training continues throughout your holiday, resulting in an improvement in your technical ability and, therefore, increasing your confidence.
When you combine the excellent riding and perfect climate that we have in Andalucia with the ease of flying to southern Spain you will discover that year round sunshine mountain biking is only a few hours away.
My credentials. I’ve been a keen mountain biker all my life and a qualified Mountain Bike Leader, under the Association of British Cycling Coaches, since 2007. I have spent the last 18 years exploring this part of Spain and have put together a weeks worth of single track heaven of fast flowing trails combined with technical challenges to keep all levels of rider happy. The terrain is best described as dry and dusty, fast flowing with a fair few rocky sections and plenty of switchbacks thrown in. The trails we ride are empty, there are no queues and nothing is man made it’s all what mother nature has to offer!
Fly to Malaga Airport. Transfer to Ronda.
We ride the travellers route from Ronda to Setenil on mainly XC style trails before stopping for tapas in my fave tapas bar in this area which is set in a cave. After a refreshment stop we pick up the Ruta de Bandeleros, crossing several streams before passing Ronda la Vieja before riding back to Ronda
Ride Distance
Today we head deep into the Sierra de Nieves to ride fantastic fast flowing single track trails through a pine forest covered mountain range. Rock gardens, switch backs, berms, drop offs, this is a dream play ground for all levels of mountain biker.
We ride from Montejaque to Jimera along an ancient mule track, this route is an absolute blast from start to finish, this trail is uber fast and fun packed.

A rest day gives you the chance to discover the historic old town of Ronda which is famous for it’s Gorge, the Bullring, the Arabic baths, city walls and many museums. Or time for some retail therapy and an opportunity to indulge, and why not after all the riding.
Alternatively, you can pick up a route card and go out for a ride without your guide.
We ride from Ronda to Montejaque, the descent into Montejaque has multiple switchbacks, once in Montejaque we stop for refreshments before riding back to Ronda on fast flowing singe track trails. We take a view of the stunning gorge at Ronda from below before we climb back up into the beautiful old town district of Ronda
Our final ride is down near Ardales where we do some Moab style slick rock riding. These Moab roller coaster sections are blended into to some of the fastest free flowing single track trails you’ll ever likely to ride. An epic day guaranteed to leave you grinning from ear to ear and begging for more!
Time to say goodbye and pack your bags before we collect you for your flights home.

My husband and I had a fantastic holiday in April with Ashley and Claire . I could not say enough good about our experience. Our accommodation in Ronda was a lovely clean stylish apartment. We had fantastic guided cycles tailored to our level of experience . Another family member was also accommodated to come cycling for two days at short notice . We can’t wait for our next trip!
Personally I hope the move to Ronda doesn’t make ACE *too* successful 🙂 The place is a hidden gem for cycling and I’d hate for it to become another Mallorca or Calpe where every cafe is overrun and prices are high. The fact that ACE are still going strong despite the massive impact of Covid on all businesses is a testament to the dedication of Claire and Ashley along with all of the other people who help keep it going. I can’t recommend ACE highly enough and I’ll definitely be back!
