Ellen, Owain, Gryffd & Sara from Wales, ‘We have just come back from our fourth visit to Montecorto where we have been cycling as a family with Andalucian Cycling Experience. The roads are fantastic, very quiet and excellent surfaces on the whole. There are lots of climbs, lots of descents and some undulating roads. The bikes we hired are new and in excellent condition. As a family we rode up to 60km per day with coffee and cake stops along the way.
The area is wonderful with great views of lakes and mountain tops, castles and settlements. The white villages are stunning and set into the slopes. The roads at this time of year are edged with wild flowers and it is possible to hear the cuckoo singing and spot birds of prey high over head. Lower down there are goats, pigs, donkeys and horses to enthral younger riders. Our youngest is now 7 and has been on a tag-along for the past 3 years but will be on her own road bike next year. My son is 12 and has been riding increasing distances along these roads every year.
The village of Montecorto is small and welcoming with a few shops and bars. The food is very good at Bar Parada and we highly recommend the croquettes and the pork cheek stew. We have found everyone very friendly. We have always been surprised at the value for money we get here compared to what we have seen in other parts of Europe.
The accommodation is excellent with outside space and a washing machine to ensure a fresh kit every day. There was a fully equipped kitchen, a microwave and a good coffee pot. In the lounge it’s very quiet with a television, a comfortable sofa, a cupboard and a coffee table. In both of the bedrooms there are an en suite including a shower, bath and a sink.
The company are very inclusive and you can take part in a tapas evening in Ronda or paella in Montecorto. There is also a chance for a farewell meal in the lovely Al Lago restaurant in Zahara on the last Friday.
We have always had fantastic guides who are very knowledgeable and give excellent tips and advice. This year we had Juan who was excellent. His English is of a very high standard and he can also share local knowledge as he is from the area. He has a great character and sense of humour and is wonderful with children and adults alike. He helped me with my descents and motivated my son up the two big climbs of Puerto del Boyar and Las Palomas.
The airport transfer this year was very easy and comfortable in the company’s van. Thanks to Drew and to Alejandro for making the journeys so enjoyable for us. We really like to stop in the supermarket in Ronda too on the way to Montecorto and stock up on pasta and tomate frito for carb-heavy meals after a long ride.
Many thanks to Ashley, Claire, Sophie and Oliver for making our trip so special once again this year’.
Judy, Adam & family from Canada, ‘This was the highlight of our trip to Spain. My husband and I, and our 3 children, spent 5 days in Montecorto cycling with ACE. Ashley picked us routes that were safe, doable and incredibly beautiful. The accommodation was spacious and beautiful. And Montecorto was so charming!! Love to return’ …
Sarah & family from Guilford, ‘We’ve just returned from an amazing week with ACE. We rather had our fingers crossed that the children (aged 7 and 9) would manage the climbs but, thanks to our exceptional guide (Drew), we achieved so much more than we thought possible. The bikes were fantastic, the scenery mind-blowing, and all the arrangements seamless. Montecorto itself is a beautiful, peaceful and welcoming village; it’s soundtrack one of birdsong and rushing streams. Also, given its size, it has a surprising number of places for children to play. Our accommodation had lots of space both inside and outside, and wonderful views across the mountains. The town of Ronda is a 10-15 minute drive so it’s easy to get somewhere more touristy if that’s your thing! All in all, a brilliant holiday made possible by the team at ACE’.
Megan & family from Switzerland, ”Gold medal’ friendly, flexible, helpful approach from the ACE team. They put together a memorable trip for us – a beginner cycling family with 2 teens; no bike ‘snobbishness’ at all! Truly breathtaking scenery, some top restaurant tips, close to a massive variety of things to do, as well as the top quality bikes provided by Ashley. The lovely Ana was kind, knowledgeable about the area and endlessly patient and smiley with us – a true gem of a person. Such an authentic team of people – Book Now – you will have a holiday to remember! Immense thanks to you all x‘
Claire, Mike, Kieran & Ieuan from Woking,’This was our 3rd visit and yet again you triumphed in the welcome and organisation. Despite the weather it has been a fantastic week. We are looking forward to seeing what impact those hills have on our riding back home. Well done! Keep up the fantastic work’!
David & Lisa and boys from Washington, ‘We conquered hills this week I thought only pros would do. Our 15 & 13 yr old boys loved the experience as much as we did’

Miriam, Seb, Alexander & Noah from Coublevie France, ‘Thank you for an excellent week of cycling and discovering the White Villages of Andalucia. This week has encouraged the boys to see cycling in a more positive way and has been a great motivation for the whole family to carry on when we get home’.

Jane, Clinton, Addy & Hannah from Australia, ‘A great family holiday that combines outdoor activities, relaxation, amazing scenery and culture – all off the typical tourist route. We loved it’!
Adam, Lisa, Gemma & Matthew from Oxford,’Exactly what we wanted. A perfectly tailored holiday for our 8yr & 11yr olds, as well as ourselves. Challenging enough for a sense of achievement but realistic for the family, giving us some great memories’
Mike, Claire, Kieran & Ieuan from Woking, ‘An amazing experience. Our best everfamily holiday. Stunning views, fabulous rides, knowledgeable guide who related well with all members of the family. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see a different side of Spain.
Morag, Peter, Kate and Finlay from Banffshire, ‘We didn’t really believe that cycling in Andalucia with two small children (2 and 3.5yrs) on bikes seats was possible. However, we have just enjoyed a fantastic week with the Andalucian Cycling Experience. Top cycling, great cafe stops and a fantastic villa to return to at the end of each cycle. Thank you Clare and Ashley’
Jody, Mike, Stella and Sylvie from Berkeley California, ‘Claire was a wonderful guide for our family’s cycling trip. She was very supportive of our 8 yr old daughter as she worked to climb the hills on her solo bike and she helped my husband and I take turns doing our solo rides on a few afternoons after the family rides. The riding here is amazing’
Rob, Suzi, Dov, Ella and Kezi from Geneva, ‘This trip exceeded all expectations and made all of us fall in love with biking. The guides were superb and supportive. Thank you’.
Rima, Anant and Maaya from Crowthorne, ‘We weren’t sure what to expect but it exceed all our wishes. We will definitely be coming back’.
Dave, Agnes, Kate and Harry from Dublin, ‘We all loved the biking! It was a new experience that all the family enjoyed together with a patient guide we explored a variety of routes. We will treasure our memories of this beautiful place. Our initial apprehension was replaced with a hunger for more. It is amazing how each of us have been positively touched by just 4 days’!
Matt, Beth, Alenor and Aneira from Bedford, ‘For a family cycling holiday it’s a fantastic balance of activity and relaxing in the lovely sunshine. We just wish we had another week’.
Val & Nigel from Canada, ‘The leisure cycling routes included astounding toursist sights. Beauty, culture, great restaurants and exercise. What else could you ask for’
Kathy & Chris from New York, ‘Great experience. If you are looking for an active but relaxing holiday we would definitely recommend. Thank you’!
Emma from Bristol, ‘We signed up for the week leisure cycling tour. The organisation of 20 odd cyclists was brilliant by Ashley and Claire, getting everyone’s bikes sorted and out on time every day. Anna was our guide and she was brilliant. The cycling, even the leisure routes were not flat at all, but the mountains were beautiful and the routes went to some really interesting places. The accommodation was also very well appointed – with all required facilities and lovely outside terraces. I would definitely go back and we’re already planning our next trip…’
Ian from Newcastle, ‘Just returned from a brilliant week cycling with ACE. We were a party of six staying in two of the town house properties. All of the accommodation was excellent can’t fault anything other than the cockerels which appear to have no sense of time. We opted for the leisure cycling trip, guided each day averaging about 40km. The cycling here is very scenic with some beautiful examples of the white villages visited. The guides were great, very friendly and helpful. Thanks to everyone at ACE for making our week so enjoyable, I will definitely be going back’.
Janet & Philip from Victoria BC, ‘We are not “bikers” but wanted to do a biking holiday. We could not have made a better choice than ACE. We chose ACE due to their location and that they had many positive reviews and many repeat clients.
The owners, Claire and Ashley are a lovely couple who were more than accommodating. Our guide for the week was Drew – very friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. The village of Montecorto was small, yet charming and a bonus was two social evenings in Ronda. Next up – some Spanish lessons to prep for next years’ trip! Thanks, everyone’!
Sharon & David from Vancouver, ‘The most wonderful cycling holiday ever with maical vistas around every corner of white villages, forests and mountains. The cycling roads are perfect. We will highly reccomend ACE to anyone. We are in our late 60’s and we were astonished at our accomplishments. Anna is the most wonderful guide erver’!
Chloe from London, ‘Many thanks for a wonderful week, it has exceeded all my expectations. Loved Andalucia with stunning countryside & white villages. Can’t reccomend ACE more. Hope to see you again soon’.
Sian & Sophie from London, ‘As a fifty plus woman I was very concerned that the biking may prove too challenging. Well it was not, but it was exhilerating, stimulating and the journey of a lifetime for myself and my daughter. We will never forget setting off as the sun rose over the mountains and biking to heavenly villages in which we consumed our second breakfast. Most of all we are eternally grateful to Anna our superb guide who made everything possible! Even the ‘hills’ which I never thought achieveable melted into managable obscurity as we admired the views at the top!
Tom & Debbie from London, ‘Thanks for making our first cycling holiday so enjoyable & for being so accommodating. We had a great time’.
Donna & Fred from BC Canada, ‘We loved every minute of it – even when the hills looked daunting. A fabulous experience. Something that will always be a special memory.
Neil and Beatrice from Geneva, ‘Come, cycle and be happy’
Diane and Kent from Saskatoon, ‘Thanks for the best introduction to Andalucia’
Jeannette from Seattle, ‘One of the best holidays I’ve ever had’
Laura & Stuart from Whittlesey, ‘We have just come back from a week cycling with ACE and had a fabulous experience! Neither of us had done a cycling holiday before and didn’t know what to expect. My husband is a weekend cyclist (who rides 30-50 miles on a Saturday) whereas I plod about on my shopper. Ashleigh and his team managed to accommodate us both in different groups and we both felt challenged and supported every day. The accommodation was superb….I have never experienced such a well equipped kitchen on a self catering holiday. We hired bikes, which were excellent, up to date and well maintained, both the road bike and my hybrid. Montecorto is a beautiful, well kept village, but the eating out food options were a little basic and limited. The scenery, both in the village, and out on the various rides, was wonderful. Even though we were in different groups, we both visited many of the same places, enabling us to meet up for coffee one day. Roads were empty and drivers very considerate. On the whole, a brilliant holiday, likely to be repeated’.
Colin from Moreton, ‘Determined to get some hill climbing in, then look no further. You can really challenge yourself or just go with the flow. The relaxed atmosphere means you can go at your own pace and there’s always someone around to chat too. Beautiful scenery, super smooth roads, climbs to challenge yourself and courteous Spanish drivers and of course you always can stop at the local cafe. Ashley, Claire and team are excellent hosts and make you feel very welcome and everything seems extremely well run. I travelled alone, but soon was mixing with like minded keen amateur cyclists like myself. I will be booking again for another adventure’.
Gillian & Steve from Barrowford, ‘Have just completed our 6 th time with ACE. We have considered other options but talking to other cyclists, ACE seems to provide the things other company’s cannot do. In particular, Personal service and flexibility . Ashley and Claire provide options for all abilities. So don’t be worried that you won’t keep up with the others, there will be an option for you. Equally there are some to riders too, who set a challenging pace.
The guides, Anna, Drew and Juan are all excellent. Encouraging and advising but always allowing you to set the pace, and most importantly the number of coffee stops.
The weather has been excellent a lovely 30’c with great Tarmac, quiet roads and considerate drivers. The mountain biking is equally varied with something for all levels.
Accommodation is first class, wifi and washing machines, comfy beds etc
So don’t be shy, give ACE a try and we will se you perhaps on our 7 th trip’!
Debbie from London, ‘I’ve just returned from yet another sensational and fantastic week cycling. The ACE team are a well oiled machine who leave nothing unchecked and Ashley, Claire, Anna and Juan had everything covered so all I had to worry about is having the best time I could! Thanks to the guides the riding was amazing. The scenery is stunning and very rural and it really made getting up the hills easier! I went out of my comfort zone and tried a bit of mountain biking, which was hair raising but thanks to Anna’s expertise I did it and I’m very happy that I did as you have to try everything once! The highlight of the week was definitely getting up Los Palomas and I will be back for a third time to take on the Margarita challenge! The facilities have everything you need. I had an ensuite room, great kitchen for self catering and wifi. The hospitality also extends beyond the ACE team and the town itself has everything you will need – two supermarkets, a pharmacy, great bars with fantastic fresh food and coffee. The locals were really welcoming! A final thanks to Claire and Ashley who went beyond the call of duty to get a group of us to Ronda on Saturday on Saturday morning. We found out at 11pm that the bus to Seville wasn’t coming into Montecorto the next morning and after exhausting a number of possibilities Claire drove us to Ronda herself the next day! All in all a fantastic week and you won’t get this level of service and hospitality at many other places. I can’t wait for my third visit!
Khylie & Adrian, ‘We have just returned from another fantastic holiday with ACE. There is nothing negative that can be said about the holiday as the ACE team are such a professional, friendly and welcoming bunch. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times you return, the scenery remains spectacular, the riding is fantastic, no two rides are the same and the sun just keeps on shining. Well done ACE, keep up the good work’.
Keith from Birmingham, ‘This was the first time I have done any serious riding on a road bike for sometime. Ashley, Juan and Drew were all outstanding guides – I only did 50 to 60kms each morning but rental bike was great, scenery awesome, roads quiet and the town house accommodation perfect. generally just an unforgettable experience. Others with me on the trip did 100 to 120kms per day and also had a great time’.
Carl from London, ‘After a near 6 month lay off from road biking I arranged a weekend in December to join ACE and get back into it. From the very first contact their e mail communication was prompt and relevant, with a comprehensive pre visit email to let me know what to bring. Accommodation was in a shared townhouse in the village and my “flat mates” were really nice fellow cyclists. ACE organised dinner for us on the Friday evening and drove us there in the minivan. Drew was my guide for the weekend. He was interesting, a fit cyclist and was very considerate. Never once did I feel under pressure as I huffed and puffed up the many hills, (if you like flat roads go to Holland!!). Drew was the epitome of patience. I took my own bike but they have a very well equipped bike “shed” stocked with good brand bikes if you use one of their’s. Ashley, Claire and Drew, (I didn’t meet the others), are a really friendly, professional team, and I would recommend ACE to anyone. Thank you ACE I will be back’.
Brett from Shetland Islands, ‘Myself and a mate from work went out for a week road cycling having very little experience on the bike. Our guide for the week was Drew, he was great for giving us little tips and advice and for helping us gain some confidence on the bike. The weather was unfortunately pretty wet for most of the week but this didnt take away from the experience which we both really enjoyed.
The accommodation was really good, the rooms were very clean and the kitchen and living room where very spacious.
Highlight of the week was the cycle up Las Palomas, hopefully we will be back again in 2017′
Mark & Michelle from Sheffield, ‘Best holiday I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back for more’
Dave & Jane from UK, ‘Wow! Stop thinking about it and just come to Montecorto. You cannot fail to have a good time’
Nige & Yvonne from Cheshire, ‘Ash & Claire are superb hosts we would confidently recommned ACE from the moment we arrived ACE could not be more helpful’
Andrew from Wales, ‘My first cycling holiday and being new to the sport I came looking to improve everything really. Went home a tired but happy man. Great routes guided by James who gave me help and confidence to get up climbs I thought I couldn’t do. Superb location and stunning scenery on the rides. Accommodation was excellent. I haven’t a negative thing to say. Awesome. Thanks all’
Sharon & Jonathon from Cheshire, ‘An excellent way to kick start the cycling season. Thank you for a brilliant holiday’

Theresa and Rick from Seattle, ‘Thank you for an absolutely incredible week of cycling and sightseeing. The week was far more than I expected and I hope to be back with more friends and family very soon. I will highly recommend the Andalucian Cycling Experience to all our friends. I hope some day you’ll come and see us in the beautiful Pacific Northwest’.
Carolyn and Larry from Seattle, ‘This vacation was extraordinarily enjoyable for all ages and skill levels. Ashley and Claire adapted the rides so everyone can do them. This trip was well worth the long flight from western USA. The Andalucian area is scenic beyond all expectations.
Ed and Berit from Seattle, ‘Thank you so much for the wonderful vacation. You have organised the rides so well that even though we all pedalled at different speeds, we all had a very enjoyable time.
Caz and Ben from Manchester, ‘Montecorto is Andalucia’s best kept secret and the Andalucian Cycling Experience is the best kept secret on two wheels’.
Mark from Czech Republic, ‘My week with Andalucian Cycling Experience was beyond perfect! From being picked up at the airport by Alejandro a day early and dropped off a day later than most of the other cyclists due to some timing logistics of my flight from Prague, to the perfect little casita I stayed in, every detail was awesome. This was one trip where every single day and minute I was there was simply perfect. As I had a pretty short time to prepare for this week of cycling I opted to go shorter distances and pace myself to make sure I made every ride and did not blow up early in the week. As it turned out I was so lucky to spend most of days riding with just my guide Juan and maybe one other cyclist. Juan is a wonderful fluid rider whom grew up riding these mountains. Not only was he able to help me with some tactical ideas and insights on climbing and descending, we also had great conversations about history and culture in the area. I thoroughly enjoyed our days and conversations as we ticked off miles and churned away meters of elevation gain. I learned so much from riding with him matching his gearing and following him on the tricky descents. And of course the scenery was spectacular with a new vista at every hairpin turn! But it was not just riding with Juan that made the week so great. Everyone on the ACE team was fantastic. The routes and pace of the weekare really thought out and perfect to see huge improvements in your cycling (and mental outlook on everything)! A huge thanks to Ashley, Claire, Drew, Anna, Dewy, and the village of Montecorto that welcomed me to Spain and made every day be more special then the previous one. There is a reason that everyone in my week long spring training camp except 1 other cyclist and one family have all been coming to this camp for many years. Quite simply the best week of riding I have had. I am already planning next years trip! The only downside to this amazing week is that coming back to 3 degrees and sleety rainy days in Czech Republic has not been that inspiring to get back on my bike and go ride-sigh oh well the pictures on my phone are helping till next year!
Martin, Sue & Matty, ‘Back for the third family holiday with ACE but this time our son was old enough (17) to take part in the training camp rides without us trying to hang on behind. He had a fabulous week of challenging long ascents and descents at speeds I don’t want to think about, well looked after by great guides Dewi and Drew and the other lovely ACE guests (thank you). We self-guided and rode our favourite routes at a much gentler pace with plenty of stops for photographs, café con leche and scenic picnics, enjoying deep blue skies and sunshine, fantastic views, green vegetation, bright flowers and cycling with vultures! Claire’s flapjack kept us going on the bikes and lemon drizzle cake was much appreciated after Los Palomas. We enjoyed the company of the guides and other guests at the cafes and evenings out were also fun: Good moonlight walk around the sites of Ronda after tapas; tasty paella in the Montecorto bar opposite the cycle workshop and a lovely restaurant in Zahara on the last night.
Our airport transfers were very efficient and smoothly driven by Alejandro and Juan.
The en-route stop at the super market in Ronda for supplies is necessary as the shops in Montecorto are shut over the weekend. You only need to get enough for the weekend plus a little more meat or fish as the little bread shop and two little supermarkets in Montecorto get better year on year and there are 3 nights out!
Our hire bikes were brilliant and well maintained. The team will fit and remove your own pedals and saddles if you choose to bring these, and also have ladies saddles if needed.
Our family house was beautifully appointed, very clean and well equipped and we enjoyed the little pool and terraced garden. All accommodation has a washing machine and lines/airers and, if the weather is good, kit dries in a few hours so you don’t need to bring much. Laundry powder/liquid and washing up liquid/ cleaning products and dishcloths are also provided and we even had soap and shower gel this time so you don’t need to bring these or shop for them in Ronda.
Someone from ACE is always around to help with any problems.
Thanks to Ashley, Claire, Dewi, Drew, Juan, Anna and Alejandro we had the best week so far and will be back! Reality has hit us hard and we need more sunshine already’.
Melissa from London, ‘This was my first time at the Andalucian Cycling Experience and I will definitely be back. Ashley and the team were great, from being able to stop on the way from the airport for groceries to helping build my bike back up. The rides were good as they can be adjusted to what each group wanted. The accommodation was great and being able to come back from a long ride and go and sit on the roof terrace with a drink made for a great end to a day’.
Emma from Chippenham, ‘This was my second visit to ACE in Montecorto and again it didn’t disappoint.
The accomodation is superb, clean and homely welcoming you at both the start of your trip and each day when you drag yourself back up the stairs from a tough day’s riding to relax on the balcony glancing at the beautiful mountains surrounding.
Each day there are different options for the group rides, you can do the same group each day, different group each day or choose to do your own ride as it’s easy to find your own way round. If you want a easy day you may be disappointed, but there are easier routes or distances to choose. Throughout the week the rides progress so you have the opportunity to develop your climbing legs as the days go by.
There is always a fall back option as well if you head out on a ride and either you or the elements become too much. This year personally I found the heat too much on the 4th day, I was superbly looked after and guided back, nothing was too much for Ashley, Claire, Dewi and Ana.
Again this year I hired a bike from ACE too, the bike was a quality carbon ride with the team more than happy to accommodate my own comfort with changing pedals, stem and saddle. Any tweaks needed through the week are no problem. The bikes handle superbly well, offer good grip and cornering and the 34-32 gearing is more than enough to handle the Andalucian mountains.
I for sure will be looking to come back later in the year or next year as it’s the perfect training to set you up for a quality season ahead’.
Juliana from Colombia, ‘If you are looking to go away from the same training routine, and want to do some climbing, this is the place to go. Andalucian Experience… all the team: Ashley, Claire, Juan, Erika, Ana… I mean just everyone was so professional and looking after me all the time. I went alone, my partner couldn’t make it this time, so shared a room with an incredible polish girl, and shared the pool with our neighbors… three of the most elegant and dearest english women. I just had such a great time. All routes are tailored for you, the guides encourage you and push you to your best, the weather was just amazing… a little bit chilly for me coming from South America, but with a nice group of people as I had the luck to find, well… they borrowed me things to warm up a bit. Montecorto is such a centric place from where you can vary the routes every day. I will definitely go back, and hopefully take my partner with me next time. Thank you for delivering me the best bike trip ever’!!
Liz & Brendan from Reading, ‘My husband and I have just completed the cycling training camp for the second year running. The fact that we have returned is proof that this is a fantastic company to cycle with.
Ashley, Claire and the team of cycle guides are absolutely fantastic. They simply can’t do enough for you. Except turn the pedals. That’s all down to you. The cycling is brilliant with challenging routes and stunning scenery. Whether you are a novice or seasoned professional, this is the place to come for a week of cycling.
We love it here and will definitely be back again’.
Kaisa-Liisa from Finalnd, ‘Just came back from my second training camp in Montecorto and I’m quite confident it won’t be my last. The accommodation has been in the cutest houses with wonderful views both times. Montecorto itself is a picturesque small town, perfect for a holiday if you’re not looking for an exciting nightlife scene.
The rides are well organized, the roads are in a good condition, there’s very little traffic and drivers are considerate of cyclists. I’ll be recommending ACE to all my friends, even those who aren’t cyclists’.
Bill from Massachusetts, ‘I spent the last two weeks riding with ACE and their team. This is my fourth 2 week stay and the experience seems to get better each year. Aside from the magnificent vistas routes and small towns the service and attention to detail is excellent. It’s ideal if you are a tourist or base training for the race season. I can’t recommend it highly enough’.
Gordon from Bristol, ‘I’m a keen cyclist that’s been to a few training camps in different countries, and this was my first trip to Andalucia and first stay courtesy of ACE. The setup that ACE run is faultless, they cater for all abilities and offer a range of rides on and off road. We stayed in the townhouse right in the middle of Montecorto and above the bike store. The accommodation was absolutely superb, the kitchen was extremely well equipped and there was nothing that we needed. Being self catered might be off putting to some people, but I really enjoyed the communal living with everyone else in the house, and if you really don’t want to cook there’s a choice of several bars within 100 or so metres (seriously!) where you can get a really good dinner for a lot less than 10 euros. There are a couple of grocery shops and bakers within the same distance too and everything is very reasonably priced. The cycling on offer is superb, and is perfect for some training or a holiday. The roads are very quiet, well surfaced and the scenery is amazing. You are in the mountains though, so there’s not a lot of options for a ‘flat’ ride, but after a few days you’ll have your climbing legs and it won’t be a problem! All the staff at ACE were very helpful and friendly, the guides know all the best cafe stops too! I’ll definitely be back (as I need to get a proper time for the Margarita challenge!)’.
Iain from Horsham, ‘Just returned from a week with ACE. What a great week! Perfect service all round (Transfers, Accommodation and Rides). Accommodation in the small village of Montecorto catered for all of our needs. Bars and small shops within a two minute walk. Ride guides made our rides perfect (even the ‘linking bits’ to the down hill!) catering for all the groups needs and requirements. Ride groups split into 3 groups (speed and ride lengths). The scenery in Andalusia is spectacular with cycling to match. A big thank you to you all at ACE for making my next cycling holiday an easy choice. See you next year, looking forward to seeing you all’.
Westy from Connecticut, ‘My friend has been going to this training camp/trip for the past four years. He invited me to go and I was easily convinced just with seeing his photos from the previous years. We went for two weeks which was nice with the time change for us (6hrs). ACE has bikes for rent or you can bring your own bike with you. I decided to bring my own and my friend rented one. They have all the tools to help assemble your bike which is nice and if needed to make any simple repairs while you’re there. You stay right in town and are a short 3-5 minute walk to the bike room where you leave each morning. There are a few little grocery stores in town so you can make food for your meals or can go to the local restaurants in town. There are 1-2 group meals that you can go to which are fun to see the area and local eateries. The food is great and the roads are beautiful. The views are unreal and such an amazing way to see the countryside. Each day we would stop 2-3 times for coffee and a lunch depending on what the plan was for the day. The guides are great, always keeping an eye out for everyone in the group and being extremely helpful. There are 3-4 different guided rides going out each day. There is a ride for every different ability rider. It would make a great trip with a significant other or friends of different abilities. I hope to make this trip a recurring one’.
Martin from London, ‘ Ienjoyed this from start to finish. The country around Montecorto is just great with some fantastic rides, and the guides from ACE were brilliant – great company and very helpful. There is variety in the rides (you can choose short, medium or long – I chose long) and some epic climbs, and if you keep your eyes peeled you’ll see some of the local wildlife too.
Thank you, Ashley, Anna and Malcolm for an excellent week. I expect I’ll be back’.
Iain from Sweden, ‘I’d guess I’m one of the more experienced clients of ACE, riding around 15,000 kms per year, sometimes racing and often spending my summer vacations in the Alps, Pyrenees or on some long distance challenge. I’ve also tried training camps in other locations such as Mallorca, Girona & Sicily. For me the best location for getting rid of those extra pounds, building up the stamina and improving climbing – all in stunning, traffic free scenery with sunshine almost every day – is Andalucia. I keep coming back (this was my 7th visit I think), not only for the endless options of beautiful rides but also for the welcome you get in Montecorto from Ashley, Claire and the rest of the team. If you’re looking for touristy shops, pubs and restaurants I recommend you stay away. But if you’re looking for genuine Andalucian country life, with small local bars, the grocer who chats with his customers for 5 minutes and an extremely inexpensive self-catering budget then this is the place for you. On the rest days a trip to Ronda can also be recommended.
From my experience ACE cycle training camps are not only for the extremely fit. On my first trip I was well overweight and very unfit but Ashley still managed to put together an ideal schedule suited for my ability.
In short – avoid the crowds and discover a secret gem of a cycling experience. Thanks Ashley & Claire for another great week. I’ll be back’!
Scott from Wyoming, ‘A serious American cyclist, I have bicycle toured throughout Spain and Italy. The Andalucian Cycling Experience ranks at the top of all my trips. Great people, great terrain and great roads, combined with a terific price, the value can not be matched. My life has been enriched and some great memories were created, I will be back for more’.
Andy from London, ‘This was our second trip to Montecorto to ride with A.C.E. Our first trip was special but this one was even better. We rode the winter training camp short rides although we took a “day off” to ride the Via Verde converted railway line, complete with Europe’s largest Griffon Vulture colony. The sun shone, our guide Juan – a local lad- was brilliant: patient and encouraging with the slower riders, and great fun to ride with. I rode the 1100m ascent of the Category 1 Las Palomas climb for the first time, and although I came in last it felt like a great personal achievement. And that is one of the great strengths of A.C.E. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Cat 1 racer or a smell-the-flowers leisure rider – owners Ashley and Claire and their brilliant guides will go out of their way to ensure that you have an amazing experience which suits your style and ability. You will still come away with a sense of personal achievement. Hills too steep? Ride the van to the top and ride back down, or they will tailor-make a flatter route for you. Ride too easy? Choose the medium or long group, or ask Ashley to tailor a ride for you. You want to ride twice up Las Palomas – no problem. Last year Ashley rode up it 11 times in one day! That’s 8800m of climbing – the height of Mt Everest- I doubt you’ll want to ride anything harder than that. A.C.E is based in the charming white village of Montecorto between Ronda and Jerez. Accommodation is provided in one of a number of village houses to suit your party size. It is clean and well-equipped with the option of buying food in the village shops and eating in, or eating out at Bar Parada or one of the other village bars/restaurants. There are also 2 optional social evenings laid on by Ashley and Claire at local restaurants. The whole week was thoroughly enjoyable, from the rides, the companionship of other guests, to the Andalucian sunshine. Forget Mallorca in March or the Canary Islands. Andalucia is the place to be, and A.C.E is precisely that. Highly recommended. I can’t wait to go back’.
Mark from Glasgow, ‘My 4th visit. This time getting in some miles for an IM event later in the year. The cycling is awesome. The guides…..awesome and Chris the mechanic who fixed my rear wheel a superstar. Ashley and Claire love what they do and it shows’.
Raf from UK, ‘Quite simply an excellent holiday for anyone who enjoys riding a bike. The great thing about this trip was that “it does exactly what it says on the tin” (and what it say on the tin is quite impressive). Ashley and Claire’s team provided exactly the service they described on their website and made everyone feel welcome. The village of Montecorto is small, pretty welcoming and quiet, and set in the middle of the awe-inspiring Andalucian landscape. The organisation and guiding of the cycling was first rate. The guides are all enthusiastic and helpful and support you at your own pace. The summer heat in Andalucia is a critical factor of course, and the rides were well-timed to accommodate the temperature we rode in. What made the trip special for me was that the non-cycling elements of the trip were equally well-managed by the team. They put me in a modern, comfortable flat with a roof terrace – making it easy to cook at home or eat out – sharing with a couple of other guests. The airport transfer, the village arrangements etc- it all worked incredibly smoothly’.
Guy from London, ‘I spent 5 days cycling with ACE just before Christmas. Even though it was very quiet, Ashley and Claire provided excellent care and support. Pick-ups to and from the airport went very smoothly, the accommodation (self catering in a town house) was exactly as per the description and very clean. The area is fantastic for cycling, allowing you to adapt routes to whatever level you require. Clearly that also depends on the level of the other riders in the group, but that is true of any group ride, on the “rest day” I choose to self-guide and had no problems at all.
The weather was amazing, blue skies, sunshine and up to 17 deg on the final day, not bad for the third week in December! For winter training I can’t think of a better environment’.
Julian & Ellen from Norwich, ‘To kick start our 2017, myself and my partner booked a week long stay with ACE in the first full week of the year. We choose ACE because of the numerous excellent reviews online and also that reading their website, they appeared to cater for a multitude of abilities. I can 100% say that we were not disappointed!!! Right from the minute that Drew met us at the airport we knew that we had made the right choice. He provided an excellent overview of the week to come, and also information about the location and facilities. Once we arrived at Montecorto we then met Ashley who showed us to the Townhouse we would be staying in for the week. We were bowled over by the facilities, especially the rooftop terrace! The following day we meet up at the main “bike room” where we met our guide Anna, who proved to be an absolute star! She took us out on our first spin and very quickly assessed our capabilities and ensured all over our rides were tailored appropriately, asking us what we were looking to achieve and really helping us get the most out of the week. Not only was she great company, but it was apparent very early on that she was any extremely capable and talented cyclist who could cover all the bases (even though when quizzed she was very unassuming about her cycling credentials!) As a result of this we throughly enjoyed every day and really got a huge amount out of the week. On top of the cycling, the guys also arranged for us to visit the local town of Ronda (with another couple who were enjoying a leisure cycling break with ACE) on both the Tuesday (for tapas) and Friday (for a very nice meal) by both Anna (on Tuesday ) and Claire on the Friday. Both evenings were very well organised, relaxed and great fun.We were also able to book massages for the mid week rest day,(which were very much needed after circa 5000m of climbing in 3 rides), these were organised by Ashley and again, the whole process was absolutely trouble free. So to sum up, we absolutely loved our week with the ACE guys, and we are already planning our return trip!!! If you want to get away for a few days and experience some amazing cycling, on fantastic roads with fantastic people then book with ACE, you will not be disappointed’!
Hannah & Xenia from Newport, ‘The set up here is like a well oiled machine – over a decade of experience in these Andalucian hills Ash & Claire know their routes like the back of their hands. The customisability & friendliness made this an adventure holiday suited to our ability. An incredible experience with a great cpmpany’
Matt & Emma from Warrington, ‘The most mileage, ascent and time ridden in a week by both of us. A great kickstart to winter training in great conditions. A challenge from your doorstep everyday with a group of likeminded individuals supporting each other all the way. ACE know their mountains! You are in safe hands’.
Dominique from Germany, ‘As aFrenchman lifing in Germany, I felt at home cycling in Spain with mostly British people. I was a little sceptical about my abilities to cycle in the mountains but now I feel prepared for my upcoming triathlon. I didn’t expect the hire bike to be so good! A great experience to be recommended. I will be back. Thank you Ashley & Claire’
Roger & Robyn from Munich, ‘Our first return visit to anywhere – and hopefully not the last. Your tag line ‘Passionate about Pedalling’ really is true and not just a logo. Your enthusiams, passion and happiness pervales in everything you do’
Sean Yates, Sports Director at Team Tinkoff-Saxo and ex Sports Director of Team Sky, brought the Catford CC Equipe Banks team over training, he said ‘Ashley and Claire have a great set up in Montecorto and the terrain is suited to riders of all levels from beginners to Pro riders. We have had a great week training in Montecorto and the boys are now ready for the season ahead’ Catford CC compete in the British Cycling Elite National Team League

David & Sandra from Farnham, ‘We wanted hills and we sure got them! We enjoyed ideal small group training rides, well planned for improving our abilities. Scenery, village and accommodation all exceeded our expectations. A great holiday & training experience. It made us realise that we can do more than we normally ask our bodies to do. Thank you to all the team. We really liked to fact that the base was in a small village than a large impersonal complex’.
Josh from Guildford, ‘Would recommend to anyone! Very well run & perfect for experienced roadies looking for performance as well as leisure cyclists. Perfect weather, perfect roads, perfect people! Best week of my life on a bike’!
Vincent from Dublin, ‘To all you paddies out there, forget the wind and rain of home, come get some sun and hard training with Ashley and his team at the Andalucian Cycling Experience’
Anna from Poland, ‘Great experience and a top-notch service! The four of us (two mature couples) spent five days biking around Ronda. Ashley was extremely responsive to our requests before we came (and we asked tons of questions and changed the route a few time). The five-day self-guide trip was extremely well prepared, great bikes, precise instructions, well-chosen hotels. When we had a little “crisis” when it started pouring rain the first day, Ashley arrived within a few minutes to take us by van to our hotel. We could not have been happier with the service and hope to come back for more’.
Rosalee & Brian from Perth Australia, ‘We decided to finish our European holiday by doing a self-guided bike tour to look at some of Andalucian countryside, starting at beautiful Rhonda. Ashley provided good detailed maps and information, the accommodation was great. Riding was challenging, however bikes low geared enough to cope with the ascents. Scenery and countryside stunning, so plenty of sights to see and enjoy. Roads were quiet and we felt very safe with the traffic that passed, it appears Spanish motorists are more respectful that Aussie drivers! All in all a great experience for us’.
Mairi & Trevor from Saudi, ‘ The self guided White Villages Tour met all our expectations and exceed several. The route took us along lovely quiet roads which provided some stunning scenery. The hills were challenging but the views made it all worthwhile. Great bikes, excellent accommodation Would highly recommend this tour and will do so to our cycling friends. Thank you Ashley & Claire’
Mark from Australia, ‘I copmpleted the White Village Tour in September. The weather was perfect and the roads quiet. I doubt I could have chosen a better tour operator’!
Blaine from Canada, ‘Ashley put together a shortened version of the full White Villages Tour for my wife and I on quite short notice. As it was early January, we were hesitant to do this ride not knowing what the weather would be like. The trip turned out to be awesome. The route was very scenic, and for the most part traffic was very light to non-existent. Accomodations were totally fine. The weather was spectacular. Blue sky and warm days. Claire stopped by one day as we were riding to chat and see how things were going.
Overall, a very positive experience. I would highly recommend booking a tour through ACE. Both Ashley and Claire are very personable and are obviously passionate about cycling. They enjoy sharing this passion with others. An unbeatable combination’.
Mark from Calgary, ‘My wife and I chose a 5 day self guided tour and it was a marvelous experience. The phenomenal scenery, expertly designed routes, clear instructions, smooth roads, courteous local drivers, quality (and scenic) accommodations and excellent equipment combined to make this a hassle free journey through this most beautiful part of the world.
Ashley and his team put together a route that was tailored to our cycling experience (limited) and fitness level. They nailed it. Challenging but rewarding’.
I would highly recommend this experience and this company. If it wasn’t such a big world, I am sure we would be back.
Monty from Sydney, ‘We booked a self-guided cycling tour around the White Villages of Andalucia and enjoyed every moment of it. The routes initially seemed a bit easy but the long climbs and elevation each day made the cycling enjoyably challenging, provided fantastic views and were still easy for a holiday tour. The hotels were lovely and it was great to finish and most days have a pool to swim and relax by with a beer. Ashley was a very helpful organiser and provided us with some options for additional kms on most days and all the advice, information and organisation needed for a perfect holiday that was fun, active and relaxing. After this first bike trip we’re keen to do another one for our next holiday. if you’re thinking of a cycling holiday in Spain then definitely speak to Ashley and the team’.
Michelle from Oregon, ‘We recently completed the White Village – self guided cycling tour, organized by ACE. I can not say enough good things about this adventure. The route was spectacular: mostly quiet, well paved roads, hilly – but do-able for amateur cyclists such as ourselves. Everything was in order from the day we arrived in Ronda, until our completion. The accommodations exceeded our expectations, as did the friendly hospitality at each location. Well done ACE’!
Brian from UK, ‘It is hard to put into words the amazing scenery we saw. Windy country roads going up and across mountains into white cobble stones villages. We saw goats, sheep, cows, chickens, roosters. We saw rock climbers and hikers. We road a repurposed railway through 25 tunnels and rolling hills. The hotels were great some were fabulous retreats. There is no better way to see this country then by bike. Ashley and his team took care of all the details and we got to just jump on bikes and pedal away. We road over 200kms! We highly recommend you book a bike tour with these guys’!
Ian from New Zealand, ‘We had no expectations of what we were to see on this tour, having never been to the area before. But had not expected the variety of scenery, the dramatic changes in terrain, the lush green fields, the smell of coriander, sounds of birds, bells on sheep and cattle, olives, grapes, fields of wheat and barely rolling across the valleys, picture perfect white villages clinging to the hilltops and fine warm weather every day. Duration of the rides was spot on, even if a struggle at times for our 24 year old daughter who hadn’t been on a bike for a year. Us oldies 54 to 62 were just fine. Bikes were almost new and in good nick. Accommodation was really good, especially in Ronda and the Cortijo Salinas hotel. The view of the Fiesta parade on the final day in Ronda from the Don Miguel was a finishing bonus that capped off an amazing week.
Well done and thanks Claire and Ashley’.
Darren from Canada, ‘The cycling tour (White villages) was the highlight of our trip to Spain and Portugal. Everything was well organized and Ashley even had paddles on the bike to match my bike shoes. The directions were perfect and we never took a wrong turn (never used a GPS, just the cards provided). The accommodations were excellent, and the meals at places that weren’t in the centre of a town were extremely good. I would rate the difficulty as a 3/5, and you definitely want to do some cycling prior. There are a few climbs longer than 2k, but is completely manageable if you take your time. I really enjoyed this tour and definitely ranks up there for me out of the trips I have done’.
Helga from USA, ‘I simply cannot say enough about Andalucían Cycling! We had a large group which was very diverse and Ashley and crew (we love Anna and Drew!!) were way over the top in accommodating our needs. From getting everybody signed up to fitting us all on bikes, they were efficient and caring. We did the White Village tour, which was breathtaking, and everything about it was fantastic. The bikes were in great shape, the accommodations were beautiful, and everybody was helpful and so, so kind! I cannot wait to go back and do it again someday, and I highly recommend it to friends and family alike. Thank you for a most amazing time’!
Mike & Robyn from Ontario, ‘My husband and I just returned from Spain, which included a 5 day cycling trip with ACE. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime, as we opted for the self guided tour which brought us through the White Villages of the Andalucian mountains. The breath taking views are beyond words, and the various accommodations organized by the ACE team were well chosen and to say the least, spectacular! It was a real pleasure to meet Ashley who greeted us the next day of our arrival with our bikes, maps, and plenty of tips to get us through our cycling journey. We commend ACE for providing us with excellent service, professionalism and knowledge of cycling. We would definitively recommend this trip to the avid cyclist who is looking for a challenge and an overall memorable experience. Be ready to ride those hills!!
Thanks again ACE for making us feel as part of a family, as we look forward to returning one day soon’!
Elizabeth & John from Cambridge, ‘We decided to book our cycling honeymoon with Andalucian Cycling Experience after reading all the excellent reviews and the reality surpassed our expectations. It was well organised from start to finish, accommodation choices were excellent, varied (with some in the villages and some out in the country) and amazing value – there was even bubbly waiting for us in a few hotels upon arrival. The routes were interesting and sufficiently challenging for people with a reasonable level of fitness (I am quite new to cycling but managed every hill). The guides who dealt with our trip and picked us up were fun, well informed and great company – it felt like a real personal service. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend’.

Clarkie from London, ‘I have just returned from my third visit to Ash and Co for a weeks mountain biking. The trails get more plentiful and diverse each visit. Other than having a blast riding these trails grinning like an idiot ( albeit that is not unusual) the whole trip is a mix of friendliness, great weather, top notch little bars and cafes and lots of humour. Cant wait to return especially with my new Bike in tow”, not sure if I mentioned that” Ash. Thanks to all’.
Will from Leeds, ‘My first foray into guided riding and first time MTB riding in Spain. The set-up is perfect – location, accommodation, organisation etc and the folk couldn’t have been more friendly. I was slightly wary of being in the ‘wrong’ sort of group (too hard/lame/slow/fast) but the guide was very accomplished and managed to conjure up rides to suit all tastes with ease and everyone got on well. We set off at about 9ish and we usually back for mid/late afternoon. Most rides included a break for coffee/lunch/laziness depending on our mood – it was both ‘proper’ riding and laid back. The riding itself varied from back roads, rough vehicle tracks, singletrack, rocky stuff – just about everything. The area is beautiful and greener than other parts of Spain which made it easier on my English eye. Despite being just over an hour from the Costa it felt a world away. A brilliant week and one I would totally recommend. Great value’.
Mike from Moab, ‘The guides were friendly, fun to be with, expert cyclists, and adept at customizing each day to fit the group. The accommodations were much nicer than we thought they would be. The cycling was world class and the cost of the trip was way more than reasonable’.
Cathy from Devon, ‘If you want to ride hard and finish each ride with a massive grin on your face then this is the place to come. It combines spectacular scenery with challenging riding, friendly guiding and comfortable accommodation’
Graham & Gai from Australia, ‘Thanks for a great week of mountain biking. We will definitely be recommending you to our friends and hopefully coming back for another holiday’
Keith from Bath, ‘Great riding, beautiful scenery, very professional outfit’
Nick from London, ‘Just got back from our third mountain biking trip to Montecorto and Ashley & the team had found even more technically challenging rides since our visit in May. As we get better at riding Ash just keeps finding even more demanding rides, never too hard but they always end with a massive grin on our faces. We rarely go to the same place twice on holiday but we’ll be back again next year for sure’.
Colin from UK, ‘We were booked on the mountain biking holiday. It was EXCELLENT. Great routes in a beautiful area plus good tips to improve our skills from Ashley who is super friendly and has a great sense of humour. It was quite amazing value when compared with the bigger companies: we got one to two staffing and a lovely three bedroom townhouse to ourselves. Ashley even threw in a day of guided road biking ( a first for us and great fun) and didn’t charge us for the road bikes. All the holidays are very tailored to the needs of the client and, while the rides were certainly challenging, you never feel pressured to do anything you are unhappy with. Ashley’s main concern is to make sure everyone has a good time and judging by the other reviews he and his staff almost always succeed.
We won’t hesitate to recommend ACE to anyone who asks (and probably a lot who don’t!)’.
Megan, Marina & Kathy from Canada, ‘The Andalucian Cycling Experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Routes were challenging, accommodation was amazing and the attention to details and support was appreciated. Beautiful scenery, great routes and excellent customer service. Thank you for an amazing cycling experience. You guys are great’!
Graham & Helen from London, ‘We have just returned from an excellent 2 week, cycling focused trip to Andalucia organised via ACE. ACE offered a lot of flexibility, and from booking to returning home, the support and infrastructure were faultless. The ACE team, including Ashley, Claire, Drew, Juan and Anna, worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly, and everyone had the experience they were looking for. We started with 5 nights based in the village of Montecorto. Our self catering accommodation was spacious and well appointed, with a nice balcony overlooking the village centre. We did guided day rides in different directions, exploring the varied landscape in and around the Grazalema National Park. A good selection of climbs, some challenging, and picturesque roads and villages. Very little traffic, and the Spanish drivers we did encounter were all very patient and cycle friendly. Alll interspersed with coffee stops and tapas at lunch.
After a 3 night visit to Seville (we organised this independently, and ACE stored our bikes and associated gear), we returned to Zahara to start our White Village Sporting Tour. We customised this to 6 nights, stayed in Zahara, Ronda, and a small hotel near Alora. Daily rides were between 60km and 95km, and 1200m and 1900m of climbing (with multiple options each day), and the route notes were easy to follow. Our luggage was moved between hotels by ACE. The three hotels we stayed in were all excellent, and all different, two with pools. The food at the last hotel, cooked fresh each night for the small number of guests by Bert, was first rate. The infrastructure and logistics of this part of our holiday ran smoothly. We did have an unexpected mechanical with one of our bikes (we took our own), and after a quick call to Ashley, we met in a friendly bike shop in Ronda and managed to get an interim repair for €15, good enough to see us through the last 2 days of our trip, and only 1 hour lost. The Sporting Tour is highly recommended.
In summary, great cycling terrain, fabulous sunny weather, and a great team at ACE. Definitely consider ACE if you want some varied cycling off the beaten track, with first rate personal service’.
Jane & Dave from London, ‘This was our fifth (or possibly sixth!) trip with ACE. We chose to road bike, self-guided, staying in hotels discovered by the ACE team. The hotels were all fabulous, each with character and excellent service. We enjoyed eleven days of riding under endlessly blue sky. The scenery is beautiful and the roads have very little traffic. Drivers are very respectful of cyclists, passing wide often with a cheery beep and a wave. Everything was well organised by Ashley and Claire. Our luggage always waiting for us when we reached the next hotel. Airport pick up and drop off were smooth and easy. Thank you Ashley and Claire for arranging everything for us. We will see you again next year’!
Rainer from Norway, ‘Thanks to ACE, my wife and I had a challenging and wonderful week of road biking in Andalusia in April/May. The transfers (airport – hotel), the luggage transport, the accommodations, the route cards for the tours and the chosen routes, just everything was perfect. The only thing we had to do was to sweat and to enjoy the landscape, wine, food and people. Thank you again Ashley& Claire’!
Steve from East Linton UK, ‘An excellent place to cycle, great food, good weather in mid April and very well organised. Friendly and efficient staff and good accommodation. Memorable hills. Think this could become a regular thing’.
Paddy & Sue from Kirkby, ‘Wonderful scenery. Superb accommodation. Great routes on quiet roads. Would definitely travel with you again and recommend you to friends. Thanks for a great holiday’
Leo from Caligary, ‘Ashley and Claire run a very professional business. They live right in the area and are very helpful with advice as well as being a phone call or email away throughout. It rained one morning and Claire arrived with a van to transport us with our bikes and luggage without our having called ahead (we were hoping for it to let up). The route notes are very well done and easy to follow. Suggested eating establishments were always good. The bikes were also great and well maintained. Ashley brought them to us the first night and made any adjustments we required. I would definitely do another tour with this company’!
