About Us
The Andalucian Cycling Experience is a friendly, fun, family business run by my wife, Claire, and myself, Ashley. Whilst I get to do the best job ever, riding my bikes and being your guide, Claire takes care of the business and financial side of things.
I have enjoyed riding for as long as I can remember; for many years in the UK, also in India, and now, Spain. On the other hand, Claire really has only started cycling since we met. Although there have been odd occasions when the bike has been thrown in a bush and stamped on, Claire, on the whole, does enjoy her rural Spanish rides!
Where are we?
We are based in a beautiful "white village" (pueblo blanco) called Montecorto, in the heart of Andalucia. We are surrounded by mountains and have the Grazelema National Park on our doorstep, which, all in all, gives us the most fantastic area for cycling. The choice of routes, and types of cycling terrain, are broad and varied as a consequence. Ronda, famous for its incredible gorge, is our nearest city and only 18km away.
Why here?
We decided to move to Spain and spent several months travelling around Andalucia looking for the right location. When we found Montecorto, our decision was made. The combination of beautiful scenery, great countryside and this tranquil white village complete with friendly locals was, for us, our heaven. The cycling is terrific. There is not a day goes by when I come home from a ride without having discovered a new track, a longer, harder climb, or, a faster, more breathtaking descent.
Ronda has a large cycling community with 4 major cycling clubs which meet each week. Over the course of the year, they hold many competitions for both MTB and road cyclists. When you get here, you will see why!
