I don't know about you but I spent most of July glued to the television, in awe of the professional riders who took part in this years Tour. Arguably the most famous bike race in the world this years Tour was simply inspirational. Yet again a Spaniard won the Tour, for the four year in succession!! Contador proves to be a formidable rider who appears to be strong at all aspects of racing especially time trialing and climbing. For us Brits the 'Manx Man' Mark Cavendish had a superb ride with 6 stage wins and Bradley Wiggins finished fourth overall, fantastic. The big question is, Will Wiggins be the first Brit to win the event? Finally, how can we forget the return of 'Lance Armstrong', seven times Tour winner, returning to the event after 3 years in retirement and finishing a very respectable 3rd. Not bad for an old boy, well he's a good couple of years younger than me....oh to be that good! In my dreams!!
If these riders don't inspire you to get on your bikes and ride then it's hard to think what will. Whether you are a born again rider, new to cycling, an avid sportiff/audax rider or budding Iron man Tri-athlete we can tailor a cycling holiday to suit your requirements. You know what to do, contact us now to find out more.
Next month, September, brings the 'Vuelta a Espana' another one of the 'great' pro races. Can the Spanish boys do as well on home ground? I would like to think so.
We still have availability over the next few months for you to sneak a last minute cycling trip into your schedule. It's sunshine and clear blue skies everyday here in Andalucia and I can't remember the last time we lost a days riding to bad weather.
We still have availability for the week commencing 15th August, anything goes mountain biking, road cycling, recreational or family riding it's your choice. The following week, 22nd August, we are road cycling and there are still places available on that week too. After that we have availability most weeks until the end of the year, however, don't leave it too long as traditionally August brings a flurry of activity on the bookings front and many of these weeks will be filled.
Looking further a field, 2010 is already looking busy with Half-terms, Easter and the summer holidays being very busy periods with family cycling holidays and places on our Winter Training Camps already being reserved. I'd urge you to get your name down and a deposit paid on any trips you are considering for 2010, as we don't like to disappoint but places are on a first come first to ride basis.
Many thanks to Yvonne from Australia who after her weeks cycling with us, which was a part of her month long tour of Europe, returned home and put the Andalucian Cycling Experience onto Trip Advisor. If anyone else would like to share their Andalucian cycling experience with the world, please feel free to do so.
