Family Cycling Holidays

Cycling on the Via VerdeThe best way to discover Andalucia is on 2 wheels and if you are looking for a healthy outdoor activity holiday this year for your family, then why not take the family on a cycling holiday adventure in Andalucia southern Spain. Your family cycling holiday would be based in Montecorto in either our Townhouse, Villa or Farmhouse Hotel accommodation. Montecorto is a beautiful white village with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere making it a great place to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life. Its a great place for the kids too with a football pitch, 2 playground areas with swings, slides and climbing frames, a village pool and the woods above the village are great to explore too.

For Claire and I the most important thing is that you, and especially your children, are having a great time. With this in mind we adapt our routes to suit your families requirements. During the rides there is plenty of opportunity to stop and explore, taking a swim in the lake or climbing up to a hilltop castle. Each day we stop for lunch at a different 'pueblo blanco', white village, to taste the various tapas and local dishes on offer. The riding is predominently on quiet country lanes or vehicle width dirt tracks, at a pace that suits your family with a support vehicle on standby just in case you need it.

The summer holidays are proving to be very popular with only the last 2 weeks of August and the first week of September left available.

Mountain Biking in southern Spain.

Great news for all our mountain biking clients. Over the past month I have discovered another 30km of quality singletrack, giving us even more options for a fantastic week of riding. The Sierra Lijar is proving to be a real single track heaven, as are the mountains between Zahara and Grazalema. Also, more breaking news for those of you who have already been on a mountain biking holiday with us, the bushes and shrubbery along the ride from Ronda to Jimera have now been trimmed back, making the single track faster to ride and this now means we can finish the ride without any thorns in your arms and legs.

Our knowledge of the local area, the tracks, the mountains, the places you can and can't ride and most importantly in which direction to ride the routes is unrivalled. As a part of your holiday, Ashley who is a mountain bike instructor, will show you a few simple techniques that will improve your Mountain Biking Spainriding and, therefore, your confidence. During a standard days riding, we incorporate skills practices which develop your braking technique, balance on the bike and body positioning whilst riding specific obstacles. For those riders who wish to benefit from this FREE coaching there are numerous opportunities during your holiday to develop these new found skills thus ensuring you leave Andalucia a mountain biking demon.

Ladies Weekend

Ladies, why not treat yourselves and/or a friend to a weekend of leisurely cycling, retail therapy, traditional spanish cuisine and spa therapy. Based deep in the heart of the Andalucian countryside you'll be a world away from the hussle and bussle of daily life. This is your opportunity to relax, unwind whilst enjoying the stunning scenery, the hospitality of the locals, traditional Spanish cuisine and culture.

After your breakfast you will be taken on a guided bike ride to a different white village were you'll have the opportunity to explore and have tapas. Each afternoon there is a different activity such as, a visit to a Spa, retail therapy in Ronda and Spanish cookery lesson. During the evenings we'll take you out for a meal except Friday, when we see a Flamenco show.

Your accommodation, located just outside of the historic town of Ronda is a beautiful Spanish 'Cortijo' Farmhouse which has been in the same family for over 300 years and has been lovingly restored into a haven of peace and tranquility. Each of the 8 bedromms have been tastefully decorated in a style that blends modern facilities with the traditional features of the building.
