At the Andalucian Cycling Experience we are Passionate about Pedalling and equally as passionate about Andalucia, especially Ronda, the Sierra Nieves and the Grazalema Natural Park. Our leisure cycling holidays combine these passions into a holiday that will be filled with fond and lasting memories. We specialize in fully supported guided tours in our own very beautiful part of Andalucia with the emphasis on gentle cycling. All you have to do is chill out and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, along with the excellent local cuisine, tapas and wines…..and of course the cycling! There are plenty of opportunities to stop admire the views, soak up the sun and take some photos along the way. It’s not a race, there’s no prize at the end of the week for being the first one back. |
From the moment we meet you at the airport to the minute we drop you off again we make sure that you will have a hassle free vacation.
During your leisure cycling holiday you will be visiting many of the beautiful white villages in the Grazalema Natural Park. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the stunning scenery and local tapas whilst experiencing the culture and history of Andalucia. By far the best way to explore rural Andalucia is on two wheels, you really get to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside whilst riding. The pace is gentle and the rides are tailor made to suit your fitness level. We ride through rolling farmland along quiet country lanes, through forests of Holm Oak, passing by olive groves and vineyards. This part of Andalucia is worlds away from the busy Costa del Sol. |

Whilst we appreciate that many people love to ride with their children we also know that there are just as many who prefer to ride on child free routes. Therefore, we never mix our leisure cycling holidays with the family cycling holidays.
Enjoy a healthy, active holiday that is good for your mind, body and soul, environmentally friendly and above everything else, great fun.
Below are a few comments from previous clients;
Helen & Richard from Macclesfield, Leisure cycling holiday April 2007 said 'Be careful - you could get hooked on cycling!'
Sarah & Bhavesh from London, Leisure cycling holiday June 2006 said 'You never get pushed beyond your limits, although the top of the hill is only ever round the next corner. Excellent guiding, tailor made cycling. Very adaptable. Fantastic townhouse and views. Options of other activities not yet tried as the cycling was so good. We will be back, regularly, it can only surpass expectations'
Amy & Sebastian from Houston, Leisure cycling holiday, November 2007 said, ‘The Andalucian Cycling Experience was wonderful for our first biking holiday! Ashley & Claire were so flexible in accommodating our desire for a short mid-week break. They worked with us on bike routes to accommodate our ability and desire and really helped make us feel at home in their corner of Andalucia. We'll be back soon – with friends!'
Via Verde de la Sierra.
The Via Verde 'Greenway' is an old railway track that is now being re-used for recreational activities, such as walking, horse riding and cycling. This part of the line was never operational. The ride takes you over several viaducts and through many tunnels. Along the way we pass the Penon de Zaframangon a limestone escarpment which is listed as a National Reserve as it is home to the largest colony of Griffon Vultures in Spain . Along this stretch of the Via Verde there are 5 old railway stations of which 3 have been renovated into cafes where we can stop for refreshments. |
The Moorish Castle
Ride along the side of this beautiful turquoise blue lake ride to Zahara de la Sierra, a beautiful white village within the Grazalema Natural Park. Zahara is a hilltop village with a Moorish castle keeping guard from above. We stop for refreshments on the shaded terrace at the Al Lago restaurant, which has stunning views over the lake. For the more energetic there is an optional walk up to the Moorish castle before we return to Montecorto. |
The Hidden Village
A ride through an enchanting cork tree forest to Grazalema, another stunning white village, where we stop at one of my favourite local bars for tapas and drinks. Grazalema has its own unique micro climate due to the mountains which surround it on three sides and is located in the centre of the Grazalema National Park. Leaving the village behind we take a 10km sweeping descent into the valley below Las Palomas, before we return to Montecorto. |
Mr Hendersons Railway
Starting in the historic town of Ronda we head off towards Benoajan where we pick up tracks which run parallel to Mr Hendersons railway. We ride along quiet country roads, through beautiful meadows passing orchards and olive groves. We stop at the amazing Cueva de Gatos, the largest subterranean cave system in Europe, before we finish the ride in Benoajan. Once in Benoajan we stop for refreshments before catching the slow train back to Ronda |
The Libar Valley
An undulating ride through spectacular scenery. The flat bottom of the Libar valley makes for easy riding yet the mountains on either side give a wild rugged feel to this route. Far away from civilization you are unlikely to meet any other riders. On this ride you’ll see a part of the Sierra de Grazalema that is only accessible on foot or by bike. The scenery takes your breath away. |
The Planes of Los Llanos
We ride through a beautiful cork tree forest until we reach the Planes of Los Llanos. Once across the Planes we ride along an undulating track for several kilometers before descending into Villaluenga, the highest 'pueblo blanco' white village in the Cadiz province. |
We always try to tailor rides to suit ability and fitness levels but at the same time want you, the rider, to experience the natural beauty and culture of Andalucia. If you should find the rides to demanding then you can call upon the R.S.N van for help.
